Show Review : CMAT @ Ancienne Belgique, Brussels.

The iconic and colorful Irish singer CMAT brought her “It’s The Euro-Country Tour” to Belgium this month, accompanied by her “very sexy CMAT band.” In honor of her latest album release — Euro-Country — last August, she toured across the titular continent of Europe.
Before CMAT took the stage, English indie pop artist Katy J Pearson opened the night. She created a calm and peaceful atmosphere with her soft voice and emotional lyrics. Even while the crowd was arriving and settling in, her musical presence naturally caught everyone’s attention. Pearson offered a beautifully orchestrated introduction that prepared the audience for the headlining spectacle.
CMAT emerged with Janis Joplining, which immediately set the tone for the rest of the set. The crowd instantly got lost in the music, and the tension steadily built throughout the audience — it was absolutely magical.
During the show, the singer performed tracks like Have Fun! and Take a Sexy Picture of Me that brought the crowd together. The energy and joy radiated from the fans as they sang every word and danced along to the melody.
Balancing out the high energy, CMAT performed quieter songs such as Euro-Country, When A Good Man Cries, and Iceberg, bringing the audience into a more raw, intimate, and emotional space.
The performer also shared some beautiful moments with the crowd. She had a short interaction when she asked if there was a song the fan wanted to hear. They requested Communion, but as expected, CMAT hadn’t rehearsed it. That didn’t stop her from trying — she started to play bits from the song before moving on, and it was a very wholesome and genuine moment.
She closed with Stay For Something, stepping into the pit to sing, dance, and move through the crowd. Her energy was absolutely unmatched; for a few hours, the concert transformed into another world where everyone could freely sing, dance, and forget about their problems.
