Show Review: alexsucks @ Jack Rabbits Live, Jacksonville, FL

By Sofia Crepeau

JACKSONVILLE, FL: On Friday March 6th feel trip. and DOGMA SOCIETY opened up for alexsucks on their Autopilot tour. With the tour kicking off in late February, Jack Rabbits Live in Jacksonville, FL was the seventh stop on this North America tour. The Autopilot album released February 20th with the tour beginning just five days later. The first opener was feel trip., playing their first hometown show! They played spang-lish indie rock tunes that filled the room with a nostalgic feeling. If you're a fan of the Strokes or indie rock as a genre, I highly recommend checking them out.

DOGMA SOCIETY has created something you've never heard before. They blend indie rock, pop-punk, and hip-hop elements seamlessly. They started their set with MUTE and after the first couple notes the crowd was filled with energy. For the final song the band had to go big or go home. The bassist hopped down into the audience to finish off the song, smoke filled the stage then slowly, the members of alexsucks started to appear, with Alex taking the stage.

Once on stage, these boys are in their element and unstoppable. With no introduction, the four started playing and playing hard. The 300 person venue was instantly filled with heavy drums, thumping bass, and the indie rock guitar and vocals we all know and love. After their third song, they played fan-favorite, Autopilot. Starting with the distinctive intro that melts into the perfect beat once drumsare added, the crowd was screaming along, “If I'm the one that holds the gun, then tell me, why am I bleeding?” Whether it was the venue, song, or people in the room, it was everyone's moment during Autopilot. Despite not playing until 10:30, the band had the audience's attention and energy and kept it the entire night. With playing so late it didn't allow for much crowd interaction, but that just meant the vibes were nonstop and the music was always flowing.

To wrap up the night, the boys ended with Flinch. This began with the guitarist (John Luther) whistling, which is one of the main reasons to hear this song live: you just get an instrumental introduction in any of the recorded versions. Even if you can't whistle along, you were still encouraged to follow along with the melody in your own way.

At the time of posting there are six dates left in the tour, so if you can snag a ticket, you are guaranteed the night of your life.
