ANAHEIM, California – Shane Michael Boose, known as Sombr, brought his You Are The Reason Tour to Orange County’s favorite arena, the Honda Center, on October 9 in support of his debut studio album I Barely Know Her. As supporting acts, Tom Odell and The Hellp made sure fans were ready for a night full of indie pop spectacles.
Sombr hit the stage with we never dated, a single from his debut album. Fans immediately flooded the room with cheers, dancing, cries, and laughter that remained throughout the whole night.
There was no part of the stage left untouched as fans anticipated what he would do next. Throughout the set, he made many strides down the catwalk, giving fans an opportunity to have a more intimate moment with the singer. In addition, he climbed scaffolds, jumped from corner to corner, and even made his way into the crowd, giving the audience an up-close and personal experience for would've been you.
Giving his fans an opportunity to feel part of the show, Sombr had them cheer for which song off of the setlist they wanted to hear. Everybody could feel that the main intent for this tour is for everybody to feel included. The connection between his fans and himself could be felt in the air, as he was very intentional when speaking to the crowd with deep admiration for everyone who showed up.
He ended the show with his most famous back to friends and 12 to 12. Confetti showered into the arena, ending the show on an even higher note. It would not be surprising if fans went the next day to go see him for his LA date, given how special this experience was for many.
As Sombr’s beginnings as a public figure included viral moments on online platforms, this performance proved how powerful it can be to start off with simple posts on social media and reach the point of playing an arena show as part of a world tour—all by making the best of every moment and continuing to create art from the heart.
