Song Review: Bitch by Laney Lebo

Laney Lebo releases her first song of 2026 with a new sassy anthem, making no apologies and reclaiming the title of the single, Bitch. Lebo is a Nashville-based singer who describes her music as "sexy-sad." This track is no exception, showcasing her storytelling and her undeniable ability to keep the words stuck in your head.

The song opens with an acoustic guitar and the lyrics, "Baby, wake up; you're lying on the dress I wore last night,” starting with an immediate spunky attitude and a tinge of nerve. Lebo shows a shameless confidence with her lyricism, “saying that you have hot girls lined up like that's about to make me cry, but I'm already seeing other guys.” Lebo delivers assertiveness alongside sexiness that is not only fearless but also iconic, the perfect combination for a summer hit that tells a guy he's not shit and you're already on to better. 

The song not only showcases Lebo's songwriting but also shows the range in vocals and the delivery in her word placement. A standout transition is in the chorus, “It’s like I got an itch; I've always been a… bit crazy that I got this far. " Faking us out with more attitude without saying the word we all thought she was going to say.

She empowers the girls who can be a little bit messy but own it, recognizing that you are who you are. Lebo goes on to sing, "There's no secret; I'm really just mean, and I'm gonna do me, so take it or leave it." In a world where women have to apologize for just existing, she claps back and tells the boys she’s just that bitch. She ends the song with the iconic line, “I’ve always been a bitch, babe,” and belts out beautiful harmonies, reminiscent of the cover of Rich Girl by Lake Street Dive with a similarly sultry voice. Lebo closes with a cliffhanger, “I couldn't give a shit; I've always been a,” proving how much of a diva she is.
