Show Review: Night Cap @ Paper Tiger, San Antonio, Texas

SAN ANTONIO – Flight by Nothing was brand new to me when I walked into Paper Tiger on February 28. They took no time to excite the crowd and bringing the energy levels to the max in preparation for the main act, Night Cap.

Despite being the opening band, Flight By Nothing had the crowd singing every word and fighting to be at the stage for a better view. They got fans on stage as well, bringing out bongos for someone to hold while the vocalist did a percussion solo of his own. There were nothing but smiles all around.

Night Cap was outstanding, starting their set with Freeway off their self-titled 2024 album. It immediately set the tone for the rest of the night. It was my second time being able to see them, and I couldn’t help but sing with the rest of the crowd. Hypnotizer came up soon after, my personal favorite off of their newest album, It’s Happening. The energy only continued to grow through the title track of the latest album as the crowd continued dancing, jumping, and singing along.

They slowed things down with Dark Eyes, allowing their amped-up audience to take a breath and enjoy the moment with those they came with. The moment was fleeting as Night Cap immediately jumped back into Honey, which got the whole venue buzzing. This energy only continued with Like That, keeping the livewire audience captivated.

An encore of Hold On For Dear Life and Lady of the Moon had couples holding each other close and reveling in the end of a perfect night. Night Cap is always welcome back to San Antonio after that electric evening.
