Lindsey Stirling stuns Boston fans with endless movement and music

BOSTON – On July 15, Lindsey Stirling brought the Duality Untamed Tour to The Leader Bank Pavilion for a night filled with violin, aerial performances, costume changes, and more movement than seems physically possible while playing an instrument—and playing it with perfection. 

Alternative rock and synthpop act PVRIS opened the show, and the Boston date felt especially meaningful for the Massachusetts-based band. Vocalist Lynn Gunn grew up in Lowell, making this a hometown performance and giving the crowd even more reason to be excited. PVRIS began with Dead Weight before moving through well-loved songs, including Snakes, Ghosts, and Oil & Water. The crowd welcomed them loudly, and Boston was without a doubt happy to have them home. 

Stirling then took the stage with her cover of Led Zeppelin’s Kashmir and moved straight into a set that combined live music, choreography, theatrical costumes, storytelling, and aerial work. The violinist rarely stopped moving as she danced and spun across the stage while making the entire performance look effortless. Songs like Artemis, Mirage, and Evil Twin, showed off the darker, more dramatic side of the production, while Foreverglow, and Serenity Found calmed the mood. 

Stirling’s performance was just as impressive visually as it was musically. On more than one occasion, she continued playing while hanging upside down high above the stage. Her backup dancers, set design, lighting, and all around stage presence were completely mesmerizing altogether. 

To close out the night, she brought Gunn back onstage to perform Eye of the Untold, giving the Boston crowd one last hometown moment before the show ended. Stirling crafted a live show that made fans feel like they were in a whimsical fairytale. It was dramatic, emotional, and impossible to compare to any other act on tour.
