The air inside the beautiful gardens of Le Botanique was full of excitement tonight. Fans gathered around the outdoor Fountain Stage for a major highlight of the Les Nuits Botanique 2026 festival: the very first Belgian festival show by Angine de Poitrine. This mysterious duo comes from Chicoutimi, Quebec. They went from being completely unknown to a huge online success in early 2026. Their popularity exploded after a live video went viral and their success kept growing ever since. Soon after, The New York Times wrote excellent reviews about them. Tonight, they finally brought that big buzz directly to Brussels and they did not disappoint!
What makes the band stand out is their very strange style. On stage, musicians Khn and Klek de Poitrine both hide behind giant papier-mâché masks with extremely long noses and black and white polka-dot suits. Their look borrows cool ideas from old art movements like Dadaism. Musically, they play a wild but precise mix of math rock and unusual guitar sounds. It was a unique sound that breaks regular music rules. They even used double-neck guitars that left the crowd completely surprised and hypnotised by the unusual but catchy sounds.
The Chicoutimi band opened their set with Angor, immediately capturing the crowd’s attention from the very first note. The atmosphere automatically shifted into something heavier, filled with anticipation and applause as the duo stepped onto the stage. The crowd went wild, dancing and letting themselves dive into the moment and the music, leaving no room for silence. Only chaos, admiration, and love for the mind-blowing and mysterious Khn and Klek de Poitrine as the band went on with their performance.
One of the most important parts of this live show was the huge, heavy bass guitar. On stage, the bass is not hidden in the back. Instead, it completely leads the show. The live bass notes were very thick and funky. They acted like a guide that holds the whole concert together. While the guitars play wild and crazy sounds over the top, the strong bass rhythm keeps the live songs from getting too messy.
The crow kept on dancing around, surfcrowding and letting themselves get lost to the math rock melodies. The audience just couldn’t contain their enthusiasm when the first notes of Fabienk cracked through the speakers. If possible, the crowd went even wilder than before, the room erupting into pure chaos as the chanting and applause from the fans resonated inside the Botanical gardens.
As the festival show continued with songs from their popular albums, Vol. I and Vol. II, the energy in the room changed. Playing alongside a busy festival lineup with bands like Model/Actriz and Maria Iskariot, Angine de Poitrine still managed to be the best part of the night. The show felt less like a normal rock concert and more like a strange theater play. The two musicians shared mysterious looks and made triangle shapes with their hands between songs which created a real connection between them and the crowd.
By the time the last notes of Sherpa ended, the crowd was tired out but happy. Angine de Poitrine proved that they are much more than just an internet trend. They are a real live force, turning a Thursday night at Les Nuits into an unforgettable festival highlight.
