Ryan Beatty takes over Chicago’s House of Blues
CHICAGO- Ryan Beatty brought his highly anticipated Arms over Armor tour to Chicago’s historic House of Blues venue on September 22. Beatty is a singer-songwriter and Grammy-winning artist known for his soulful, indie/folk-pop style and cinematic lyricism.
Girlsweetvoiced, an indie pop and R&B singer-songwriter and producer from Ottawa, Canada joined Ryan on tour. She performed a handful of songs from her debut album Lovesweet, which came out July of this year. A memorable moment in her set included the song Tonight, which features a very rare Joni Mitchell sample that was personally cleared by Mitchell herself. She highlighted how surprised she was to receive the go ahead to use this sample. It was a song she put out on her social media not thinking it would go anywhere until one day she received a letter in the mail from Joni Mitchell herself approving the sample.
Beatty opened his set with Secret Language, a fan favorite off the album Sweet Fortune. The song immediately set the tone for the rest of the show. Throughout the night, fans danced, sang along and even became emotional as he worked his way through the set list.
The tour follows the release of Beatty’s fourth studio album, Sweet Fortune, which was released early this past summer. The record marks his return to music and touring after a three year break following his previous record, Calico. Beatty shared a vulnerable moment with the crowd, saying “...this run of shows has made me fall back in love with touring and making music.” He also expressed a deep admiration for Chicago, noting that he always has high expectations whenever a tour brings him through the city.
This captivating show is a testament to Ryan Beatty’s artistry. Whether he is delivering vocals, writing or producing; he solidifies his spot as a powerhouse in the industry.
