Australian DIY indie rocker Suzi drops new single, Short Lived

Written by Erika Szumel

Australian DIY indie rocker Suzi released her newest single, Short Lived, in August 2026. Suzi’s sound is a mix of indie rock, emo, and folk-punk. The high-energy music is matched with her vulnerable lyrics and profound storytelling about mental health.

At a length of 3:32, Short Lived starts off strong with guitar and vocals, and then the rest of the band kicks in. It’s a solid buildup with both the sound and lyrics: “You've got your new docs, odd socks, fuck you’re looking so hot / Northside, quick drive, sitting in a street light / Learning bout you, you were learning bout me.” In just the first 15 seconds of this song, it’s already building momentum and excitement for the beat drop.

The song takes us through the journey of a secret relationship between her and someone else that their friends don’t know about. The rawness and vulnerability shine through Suzi’s lyrics throughout the entire track, especially in the chorus: “Oh no I know it’s short lived / I'm hopelessly in this now / Hopelessly in this now / Oh no I know it’s short lived / You're all that I think about / All that I think about / It makes no sense I should have run by now / And if it comes to be / It's not you and me / I will live and die / knowing that I loved / I lost and I survived.”

She came into the spotlight through TikTok under the account “suzisangthis” and has since self-recorded her own debut EP, I Like It Better Indoors. Suzi has shared the stage with beloved bands The Wonder Years, Tigers Jaw, Mom Jeans, and Prince Daddy & The Hyena, and Short Lived lives as a catchy introduction to the indie rocker’s talent and artistry.
